Who died? ‘Ozark’ Season 4 Series Finale Reveals Each Character’s Fate

Tricky place. Ozark Season 4 began in a tense place after the Byrde family was completely thrust into cartel life — and separated from each other.

The Netflix series first premiered on the streaming giant in July 2017 after Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) and his wife Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) launder money along with their two children, Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) and Jonah (Skylar Gaertner†). . When the family business became more lucrative, they moved to the Missouri Ozarks and kicked their entrepreneurial endeavors into high gear.

After three fan-favorite seasons, the fourth and final version was announced in June 2020. Season 4 was then split into two parts of seven episodes each. The first dropped in January 2022 and the second was released almost four months later in April 2022.

“In the last season, it was all like, ‘Well, how do we end this?’ The Byrdes have to pay the bill, you know? Shouldn’t they get away with it, for example? Shouldn’t they?” Bateman teased during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon weeks before the final episodes dropped. “So [showrunner Chris Mundy] said, ‘I want it to be a happy ending, but there has to be a little , well, is it happy for them?’ Hopefully the audience will think, ‘Oh, they’ I’ve threaded the needle through the happy ending – but they’re faltering.’

Season 4 – spoiler alert – began with Ruth Langmore (played by Julia Garner) being split from the group. Meanwhile, Marty and Wendy are even closer to Omar Navarro (Felix Solis†) After seven dramatic episodes of trying to run their business, they finally meet with the FBI to neutralize the cartel once and for all.

“I read the final scripts and just threw them across the room,” Jessica Frances Dukes, who plays Special Agent Maya Miller, told Weekly exclusively for the finale ahead of the premiere. “I was throwing tables! I cried! It will be an emotional roller coaster. So be prepared.”

The New York native continued, “It’s hard to live with that character for so long. You have so many things you want. You say, “I have these five different ends that I want to accomplish.” And these writers are just great. They gave me more than I could have ever imagined with her. And I’m honored.”
