Falcom releases updated sales figures ahead of the release of The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN- in Japan and Trails from Zero in the West.
Falcom has announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails series (known as Kiseki in Japan) has sold over seven million units worldwide. It last reported more than five million franchise sales in September 2020.
The timing precedes the launch of The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero next week on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in North America and Europe. In Japan, The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN- is released on September 29 for PS4 and PS5. An English localization for the original game has yet to be announced, meaning the sequel could be even further ahead.
Fortunately, Western fans will be treated to The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure, Trails into Reverie, and Boundless Trails: The Legend of Nayuta next year. All three games will be available for PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. In the meantime, check out our review of Trails from Zero here.
Falcom has announced that its Legend of Heroes: Trails franchise has now surpassed 7 million sales. The RPG series has been around for almost two decades, and has always been somewhat popular in its homeland of Japan – but in recent years, that trait has started to take hold here in the West.
7 million is a respectable number, and Falcom will expect sales to continue their upward trend, especially now that NIS America is releasing games overseas. Indeed, Trails from Zero is just days away from its Western release, and then its sequel, Trails to Azure, will arrive in 2023, along with Trails into Reverie and The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails.
Meanwhile, Falcom itself is busy in Japan. Kuro no Kiseki kicked off a new generation of Trails games last year, and Kuro no Kiseki II: Crimson Sin is coming out at the end of the month. Both of these games are very likely coming to the west as well.
So yeah, it’s a good time to be a Trails fan. Are you happy that the series is doing well? Write your own legend in the comments section below.
