For 22 years and 42 seasons, Jeff Probst has been the host of CBS’ Survivor. Now it’s time for season 43 of the reality show to premiere this fall.
We can once again expect new challenges, bonds and deception to come into play as a group of strangers are stranded in a remote location. The ultimate goal is the same: to win $1 million and earn the prestigious title of Sole Survivor.
The castaways are transported to the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji, which make up 20 islands. The show has been filmed here since season 33. “I hope we stay here forever,” Probst (opens in new tab) told Entertainment Weekly, saying it offers everything they need, like beautiful water, beaches, jungle and wildlife.

When is the survivor season 43 release date?
The new season of Survivor kicks off with a two-hour premiere on Wednesday, September 21. Get excited because you can watch the episode at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
Survivor season 43 airs every Wednesday on CBS at 8:00 PM ET/PT. The latest episodes are then available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.

What is the premise of Survivor?
As usual on Survivor, castaways are divided into tribes, (presumably) form alliances, and compete in physically demanding and mind-boggling bounty and immunity challenges—all in a remote location with minimal access to food. Target? Outsmart, outplay and outlast every other player to win $1 million.
In this particular season, we’re focusing on the society that players create. If you saw last season, you know it’s all about adapting to your surroundings.
“This season, we’re really going to look at how the company they make directly affects the game they play because you have to find out what the values are, what the norms are, what the rules of the game are. society because they make the rules,” Probst said.
Who is the host of Survivor?
Would it really be Survivor if Jeff Probst wasn’t the host? Now in its 43rd season, he is the only host the show has had for more than two decades. The 60-year-old has been nominated for 10 Emmy Awards (opens in new tab), winning four of them for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.
Believe it or not, Probst actually left the hit TV show in 2009; he was burnt out. After taking time to recharge and make changes to the production team, he returned.
“My Achilles heel for most of my life was that no one saw me as a storyteller, that they saw me as a white guy with dark hair who was just a game show host,” he told The New York Times (opens in new tab). “And that, in terms of my own self-image, was a thing that could gut me. It was like a punch in the kidney.”
