Cyberpunk 2077 has been played by more than a million users since the release of the web anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners last week.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners is a 10-episode standalone story centered around a poor teenager named David Martinez. A top student at the prestigious Arasaka Academy, a sudden life tragedy forces him to abandon his studies and become an edgerunner – a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk – to survive each day in Night City.
The web anime has received critical acclaim for its in-depth characters, animation, and world-building. As a result, it received a 100% rating from Rotten Tomatoes and earned comparisons to Riot Games’ hit Netflix animated series Arcane from Forbes.
In addition to the new Cyberpunk animated series, the game is set to keep Cyberpunk fans busy with plenty of content as the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion is slated for release in 2023. Now it has another boost with the release of Studio Trigger’s new Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners anime, which is now streaming on Netflix. As PC Gamer pointed out, “tens of thousands” of players have apparently returned to the video game version of Night City after watching the 10-episode anime.
According to SteamDB stats alone, the game has apparently been played over 85,000 times on PC in the last 24 hours. We imagine there are also players on consoles like the Xbox platform who are also considering giving the game a second chance.
Of course, CP2077 has also been significantly updated since the first Xbox release – tech experts at Digital Foundry mentioned earlier this month that the latest patch is “good news” for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series X.
