Katy Perry continues to wow with her stunning stage performances, but a recent video of the star has fans worried.
In the video, half of Katya’s face appears to be paralyzed as she repeatedly tries to open her right eye. The singer is seen tapping her face repeatedly, appearing to wake up the paralyzed part, leaving fans wondering what’s going on.
One fan speculated that the 38-year-old was suffering from Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a virus Justin Bieber had earlier this year that left half his face frozen, leaving him unable to perform.
Other fans reasonably speculated that Katy was merely struggling with the lash glue, writing: “Looks like her lash is stuck,” and: “When the lash glow isn’t completely dry and you close your eyes…”
However, a more likely explanation seems to be that Katy was merely acting on her ‘bulging eye’, which is very popular with her fans.
During an episode of American Idol, a mother contestant said, “I have a blink, too, and I used to worry about it. Then a lot of my fans made a fandom out of my blink.
“I even have a fandom that calls itself ‘Katy’s wrk-eye. ‘She’s my right eye. So just celebrate all that stuff. Don’t worry about it.’
In 2011, she revealed that the condition flared up “whenever I take pictures” and was given a prescription to help ease it.
“Her clone was faulty. This is scary,” one person wrote on TikTok, while another added that it was “draining the battery”.
Meanwhile, someone else claimed: “There’s another video going around where the clone collapsed on stage.”
“It wasn’t the eye that was weird, it was the fact that she acted like it didn’t happen and went on with the show,” commented a fourth person.
Perry took notice of the comments and assured her fans that it was just a prank, inviting them to a party when she returns to Las Vegas next year.
